ArmInfo.  The campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church, like the decision to close the Shoghakat TV channel, cannot be simply seen as a conflict between the authorities and the Catholicos of All Armenians. If it were just a matter of personalities, the attacks would not targeting the  destruction of institutions. Meanwhile, today, the focus is on  attacking the system itself, the Church, as the last bastion of the  spiritual sovereignty of the Armenian people, as stated by political  scientist Vahe Davtyan.

 "The closure of Shoghakat is not a technical or financial step, but  a symbolic one. It is the dismantling of an important institution,  with the intention of removing Christian discourse from the public  sphere and suppressing the space where the unbroken chain of national  identity and faith continued to exist.  Ultimately, Shoghakat could  serve as a platform for dialogue. However, it is being closed because  the goal is not the individual, but the substantive dismantling of an  institution-the Church. At a deeper level, we are witnessing an  attempt at religious-geopolitical reformatting," he noted.

According to him, Armenia is once again becoming a testing ground  where, under the slogans of "peace" and "tolerance," the process of  weakening Christian identity is being carried out. In reality, this  is a new ideological engineering aimed at eroding the spiritual  foundations of national statehood. "The ethics presented in detail in  Dostoevsky's 'Demons' clearly demonstrates this process: 'freedom' is  transformed into an instrument of spiritual decay, infecting faith  with doubt, morality into ideology, and service into modernist  pseudo-reformism," Vahe Davtyan  emphasized.
