ArmInfo. Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan will not attend the liturgy at Hovhannavank Monastery on Sunday, which is to be conducted by defrocked Stepan Asatryan.
"I have my own affairs and will not be able to participate in this liturgy," the speaker said, in response to journalists' questions about whether he would attend the service, especially given RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's plans to attend it.
Simonyan once again called for the resignation of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II. "The Church is not a one-man operation. Ktrich Nersisyan (the secular name of Karekin II - ed.) will leave anyway, and it would be better if he does so as quickly as possible, as in that case he simply will have no alternative," the head of Armenia's legislative body noted.
