ArmInfo. Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I is confident that the Armenian people need new leaders to help the country to overcome the current situation. His Holiness made this statement at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of his enthronement.
"The Homeland is moving towards self-destruction, and the Diaspora towards self-annihilation. We must put an end to this through pan-Armenian efforts. Today, we live at a crossroads in our history. In this situation, we need new leaders, new approaches, a new attitude to emerge from the current morass. We cannot move forward by repeating the same things, especially in an era of daily change. We cannot live self-centeredly and egotistically; we must open our eyes and see where our people and our Homeland are heading," Aram I stated.
His Holiness noted that geopolitical conditions are changing, and today it is essential for young people to bring new life, as they are the ones who will experience the modern world. He stressed the vital role of youth in shaping the future of Armenia and the Diaspora. "When the same people sit on the same chairs, shaped by the same way of thinking, the chairs wear out, just like those who sit on them," Aram I emphasized.
He noted that the Diaspora's role in saving and rebuilding Armenia is essential and paramount, and that it is the Diaspora that can halt this process, despite facing various difficulties and challenges in different countries. Now, according to the Catholicos, the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia has begun the process of reorganizing the Diaspora, as the strengthening of Armenia is predicated on the strengthening of the Diaspora itself.
