
ArmInfo. During the second Kazakh-Azerbaijani meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council in Astana, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev referred to the Declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia as historic.
According to Tokayev's press service, he emphasized that the current high level of Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations was achieved, first and foremost, thanks to the personal contribution of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. "I highly appreciate your continued support and attention to this issue. All of modern Azerbaijan's outstanding achievements are inseparably linked to your creative, strong leadership. I would like to note the historic significance of the Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The strong political will and strategic vision you have demonstrated serve as a shining example of a wise approach to resolving complex issues and responsibility for the destinies of future generations. Without a doubt, the agreements reached between the two countries have become a watershed, opening new horizons for cooperation throughout the region and beyond. We sincerely rejoice at the successes of brotherly Azerbaijan and wish it the successful implementation of its lofty goals in building a strong and progressive state. As for our relations, they have enormous potential, and we have everything we need to fully realize it: unwavering political trust, shared values, and the sincere desire of our peoples for rapprochement," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The President of Kazakhstan also noted the special nature of Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations. "The Council serves as an effective platform for developing coordinated decisions in all areas of bilateral cooperation. Azerbaijan is a special country for Kazakhstan, a fraternal state. We are united by shared historical roots and a rich spiritual and cultural heritage, a similar mentality, a view of things, and developments. On this unshakable foundation, we are successfully developing our multifaceted cooperation. Ilham Heydar oglu, I attach exceptional importance to your state visit. It is symbolic that your visit is taking place in the year of the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Alliance between our countries.
Over these years, we have established an active political dialogue and created a solid legal framework for the continued development of trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Such comprehensive, consistent work is fully supported by the citizens of both countries," Tokayev stated.
The meeting's agenda included cooperation in transport, logistics, digitalization, the fuel and energy sector, as well as cultural and humanitarian interaction.
Following the talks, the presidents adopted a Joint Statement on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Allied Relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
