ARF urges  two Catholicosates of Armenian Apostolic Holy Church to  join efforts to protect Church from Armenian authorities

ArmInfo.The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) called on Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II (II) and Catholicos of the Great House of  Cilicia Aram I (I) to join efforts to protect the Armenian Church  from attacks unleashed by the Armenian authorities.

"In light of the attacks, persecution, and anti-national actions  carried out by the Armenian authorities against the Armenian  Apostolic Church, the ARF Bureau considers it absolutely unacceptable  to blame His Holiness Catholicos Aram I of Cilicia and make him  responsible for these all these events. This has rightly sparked  strong backlash from the Armenian community in both the Diaspora and   Homeland," the ARF Bureau said in a statement.

The Bureau notes that the events in the Homeland are a planned attack  not only on the Armenian Church, but on the entire faithful Armenian  people, their self-identity and national identity, and in no way can  be considered a conflict between the church and the state. "The  recent arrests of high-ranking clergy and the reprehensible behavior  of the Armenian authorities against the Church urgently require the  Catholicosates of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church to join efforts  to protect the Church, which holds exceptional national value in the  life of the Armenian people.

We call for the close cooperation of the two Catholicosates of the  Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and the unwavering support of our  people united around them, to protect the Armenian Church from all  kinds of destructive internal and external attacks that undermine and  humiliate the identity of the Armenian people," the Bureau's  statement reads.
