Armenian human rights activist: Authorities preparing information  basis to arrest Catholicos of All Armenians

ArmInfo.Armenian authorities are preparing the necessary information basis to arrest of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, according to Ruben  Melikyan, lawyer and member of the "Five Human Rights Defenders"  initiative. 

"The occupation regime has started information preparations for the  arrest of His Holiness,  a key element of the attack on the Armenian  Apostolic Holy Church. On one of their websites, they have published  a recording of a telephone conversation, allegedly held in 2023,  between one of the Patriarchs and a certain priest. In the  conversation, the priest accuses His Holiness of 'advising' him to  participate in a rally," Melikyan wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, the next steps are already clear; it's just a  matter of time: today, tomorrow, Monday, or in a few days. "Taking  all this into account, I would like to share a few points. Firstly,  His Holiness, who is captured, remains His Holiness. Throughout our  centuries-long history, there have been many cases of our most Holy  Patriarchs being captured by the enemy. This will be one of them.  Secondly, His Holiness has every right to appoint a deputy during his  absence to ensure the normal functioning of the Church. Thirdly, we  have to be ready if the Mother See calls us to Holy Etchmiadzin," the  human rights activist wrote.
