Lawyer Alexander Kochubaev must defend his PhD dissertation on  November 1, 2025 - Professor

ArmInfo.Doctor of Law, Professor Artur Ghambaryan writes on his Facebook page that lawyer Alexander Kochubaev, who is unlawfully persecuted for his  speeches and detained on indescribably shameful grounds, must defend  his PhD dissertation on November 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM, in front of a  specialized council  at the Russian-Armenian (Slavic) University.

"Kochubaev's blatantly unlawful and unjustified detention actually  violates his constitutional right to education (Article 38a) and  freedom of creativity (Article 43) of the RA Constitution". Moreover,  the professor believes that freedom of scientific creativity should  not be restricted.

"The state, the RA Ministry of Justice, or the RA Ministry of  Education, Science, Culture, and Sports have an obligation to ensure  the constitutional right to education and freedom of scientific  creativity of the illegally detained Kochubaev. To participate in the  defense, the applicant must either attend a meeting of the  specialized council, or have the defense organized in the place of  detention. By the way, there are known cases where expert  examinations were organized in penal institutions. Perhaps, in  political-legal systems freed from constitutional, legislative,  moral, and doctrinal restrictions, where the use of pretrial  detention has become a common practice of suppressing freedom of  speech, it is naive to expect competent authorities to ensure the  right to education and freedom of scientific creativity for a  researcher facing political persecution," Artur Ghambaryan  emphasized.
