ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan denied accusations of attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC). He made this statement during a briefing on October 16.
The Prime Minister emphasized that nowhere in the AAC documents is it stated that the person holding the position of Catholicos or bishop is identical to the Church. "In the history of the AAC, there have been cases, perhaps numerous cases, when Catholicos was deposed and left. What happened as a result? Did the Church collapse? No!" the head of government said.
He also mentioned cases of bishops facing criminal charges and spending years in prison. When asked by journalists if these events are related to the peace process with Azerbaijan, he ruled out any connection, noting that he does not follow statements from Azerbaijan's spiritual leaders.
