


ArmInfo.The Investigative Committee of Armenia has released details of the arrest of a group of clergymen from the Aragatsotn region.
"As part of the preliminary investigation into criminal proceedings initiated on charges of forcing participation in meetings, obstruction of the exercise of electoral rights, and embezzlement of entrusted property on an especially large scale, a number of searches were carried out.
As a result of over two dozen searches, documents relevant to the criminal proceedings, data carriers containing electronic information, cash in especially large amounts, a large quantity of gold and silver jewelry, numerous fuel coupons issued in the names of several commercial organizations, and other objects and items of significance were discovered and taken.
Based on the facts obtained as a result of large-scale investigative and procedural actions, public criminal prosecution was initiated against H.P. according to the Point 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 149 of RA Criminal Code adopted on 18.04.2003, and the Part 3 of the Article 236 of RA Criminal Code, against A.A. according to the Part 3 of the Article 46-236 of RA Criminal Code, and against N.A. according to the Points 2 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 256 of RA Criminal Code. They were detained.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding is ongoing," the statement reads.
