ArmInfo. Clergymen Aram Asatryan and Taron Hunanyan failed to appear for the meeting of the Awards and Disciplinary Committee of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. This was announced by the clerk of the Commission on Awards and Disciplinary Matters, Rector Paruyr Avetisyan.
"The Commission on Awards and Disciplinary Matters of the Mother See of the Holy See convened a regular meeting to consider issues related to both disciplinary measures and awards for clergy. The agenda also included a meeting with Father Aram Asatryan and Father Taron Hunanyan.
Due to the absence of the priests, a full discussion was not possible at the meeting. We hope that the priests will reflect on their words, return to canonical ministry, and come to Holy Etchmiadzin to meet with the members of the Commission," reads a statement published on the website of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin.
Both clergymen previously made anti-church statements and generally support the Armenian authorities' anti-church campaign.
Moreover, Father Aram Asatryan, the former spiritual pastor of Hovhannavank, waged a campaign against the monastery's newly appointed pastor. Specifically, he attempted to prevent Father Manuk Zeynalyan from entering his place of service and, to this end, called the police. Father Manuk resisted the provocation and silently left the monastery grounds.
