ArmInfo. A Baku court has "unearthed a witness" as part of his "testimony" against General Levon Mnatsakanyan, who cites a fake incident from 2022, in which Mnatsakanyan allegedly resorted to violence, etc. This was reported on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the opposition With Honor faction.
According to him, the Azerbaijani authorities are not interested in the circumstances or status of Mnatsakanyan at the time, or in what situations he acted this way. They need to conclude the case against the general and the Armenians under investigation in Azerbaijan, and one or two fake incidents in the process change nothing. "Mnatsakanyan testified in court about his participation in all wars and their motives, while simultaneously denying the false accusations against him. However, Azerbaijan continues to stage false trials and lawsuits against Armenia, despite numerous statements about peace and cooperation," the parliamentarian noted.
23 Armenians are currently being held in Azerbaijani prisons, including 16 individuals captured following Azerbaijan's military attack on Artsakh on September 19, 2023. Among the captives are eight former Artsakh officials - former presidents Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan; parliament speaker Davit Ishkhanyan; former state minister Ruben Vardanyan; former commander of the Defense Army Levon Mnatsakanyan; former deputy commander Davit Manukyan; and former foreign minister Davit Babayan.
