ArmInfo. In his new message "from the basements" of the National Security Service, businessman Samvel Karapetyan, head of the Tashir Group of Companies, outlined the tasks assigned to the working group created by the "Our Way" movement to protect the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) and national values.
In the letter, distributed on the Facebook page of the Council for the Defense of Karapetyan, the businessman noted that, first and foremost, it is necessary to regulate relations between the state and the church in such a way that in the future no "small group" would even think of launching new attacks on the most important national institution and expecting success.
As the businessman explained, this can be achieved given the current constitutional framework.
Specifically, as Karapetyan explained, through discussions with experts, which will lead to the formulation of the correct formula for achieving this goal. "It is no less important that spiritual life become an integral part of our people's daily lives, and the movement has much to do here as well. Many of the problems that exist in our society and threaten both the moral character and health of our future generations have arisen from a lack of genuine spiritual nourishment. A person who is essentially well-fed but deprived of spiritual values and moral principles does not and cannot bring absolute benefit to society, the state, or the Homeland," the businessman noted in his message.
Furthermore, Karapetyan recalled that the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church is an integral part of the national identity and millennia-old Armenian culture. In this vein, he wondered what part of this exceptional value the Armenian people have been able to show to the world and take pride in. "During the 35 years of independence, perhaps such an opportunity has not existed, for objective or subjective reasons. But in the very near future, we must ensure that everyone knows where Armenia is, where the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is, and what a rich legacy our Christian ancestors left to the world. We will do it 'Our Way,'" the businessman said in his message.
As a reminder, Samvel Karapetyan was detained in Yerevan on the night of June 18 by Armenian law enforcement agencies after expressing support for the Armenian Apostolic Church. This was followed by open threats from the Prime Minister. On the night of June 19, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction remanded Samvel Karapetyan, president of the Tashir Group of Companies, in custody for two months. He is accused of publicly calling for a takeover of power in the country. Karapetyan denies the charges. Furthermore, in July, the head of the Tashir Group of Companies was charged with new money laundering. He denies the charges. On August 15, early in the morning, after nearly 10 hours of considering the investigator's motion, the Anti-Corruption Court extended Karapetyan's arrest for another two months.
