Armenia receives 280 study quotas for  Russian universities

ArmInfo.In 2025, Russia allocated 30,000 quotas for applicants from 177 countries, with Armenia receiving 280 places. This is a significant increase from the 2009 figure, when only 170 quotas were allocated, as reported by Vadim  Fefilov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Armenia.

He noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin has set a goal of  increasing the number of international students at Russian  universities to 500,000 by 2030. Currently, this number stands at  415,000. According to the statement, Rossotrudnichestvo (Russian  House in Armenia) is the operator of the first stage of the selection  process for admission to Russian universities for free education  under the Russian government's quotas. Among Armenian applicants, the  most popular choices are the Higher School of Economics, RUDN  University, Kosygin University, and the theatrical arts  and  cinematograthy universities GITIS and VGIK. In the medical field,  Pirogov University and Sechenov University are the top choices.

The application process has been significantly simplified. Aigul  Shamsutdinova, Rossotrudnichestvo's chief expert,  reported that the  organization's staff visit schools across the country, "from Movses  to Tatev", to assist applicants. "We personally visit schools  throughout Armenia, present program details, explain the application  process, and help with filling out applications," Shamsutdinova said.  She added that the quota allows for not only undergraduate studies  but also master's and postgraduate studies, as well as secondary  education. Citizens of Armenia and the Russian Federation who permanently reside  in Armenia and do not have permanent registration in Russia are  eligible to participate in the program. Applications are being  accepted starting September 15 and will continue until December 15.
