
ArmInfo.A prosecutor (representative) for cooperation issues in Eurojust will be appointed at the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The corresponding decision was made on September 25 at a regular government meeting. "
As stated in the explanatory note to the document, on April 5, 2024, the Agreement on Cooperation between the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia and the European Union in the field of legal cooperation in criminal proceedings and the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) was signed, ratified on September 10, 2024.
Based on the aforementioned Agreement, on September 3, 2024, the Working Agreement on the implementation of the Agreement between the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and Eurojust on cooperation between the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia and the European Union in the field of legal cooperation in criminal proceedings and the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) was signed, approved by decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia on November 29, 2024.
"With the adoption of the draft, a prosecutor (representative) for cooperation with Eurojust will be established at the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This will ensure the exchange of information and data necessary for actions aimed at identifying transnational crimes. This, in turn, will facilitate the rapid and efficient execution of requests from central or competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia to competent authorities of a foreign state for legal assistance in criminal proceedings, including extradition requests, as well as relevant requests from competent authorities of foreign states," the document states.
The European Union Agency for Criminal Justice (Eurojust) is a pan-European framework promoting cooperation between prosecutors' offices of the Member States of the European Union. Its aim is to establish a network of prosecutors from Member States of the European Union and third countries, which are not members of the EU, to improve the effectiveness of prosecutorial cooperation in the fight against transnational crime. This network facilitates the exchange of collected data between competent authorities of both Member States of the European Union and third countries.
