ArmInfo.Azerbaijan is not making territorial claims against Armenia. Azerbaijani expert Murad Muradov made this statement in Yerevan on September 22.
However, he noted, the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia contains provisions that threaten Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. This factor, Muradov noted, could become the only obstacle to signing a peace treaty between the two countries.
In response to a question about the existence of similar demands on Armenia in the Constitution of Azerbaijan, the MP emphasized that the Basic Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan does not contain such direct territorial claims.
He noted that the countries initialled the agreement in Washington, indicating an understanding on this issue. Moreover, the topic of the Azerbaijani Constitution is not being raised by official Yerevan. Muradov suggested that a draft peace agreement could be signed within a year.
Regarding the Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku, he stated that he was not authorized to make statements on the matter.
