ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities' primary responsibility is the return of prisoners, not the international PR of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Political scientist Suren Surenyants wrote this on his Facebook page, commenting on the results of Andranik Simonyan, Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia,'s visit to Baku.
As the political scientist noted, the delegation led by the Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia participated in the 3rd International Security Forum, held in Baku from September 19-21. "For several days, I didn't want to touch on this topic under the pretext of not causing harm: I hoped the visit would at least facilitate the release of some of our prisoners of war. However, judging by the schedule, the visit has apparently ended, and there is no positive news.
Aliyev received further dividends in the form of a positive international image, while Armenia was left with nothing. This isn't diplomacy, but dangerous defeatism," Sureniants wrote.
He added that the Armenian official's visit to Baku can only be considered justified if he returns to Yerevan with Armenian prisoners of war.
"Otherwise, such visits don't protect Armenia's state interests; on the contrary, they strengthen Azerbaijan's position. The primary responsibility of the Armenian authorities is the return of the prisoners, not the international PR of Aliyev," the political scientist emphasized.
