ArmInfo. The details of Trump route will be clarified during contacts, discussions, and negotiations between the Armenian and US delegations, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told reporters on September 20.
"We also have common understandings with the Azerbaijani side, which are reflected in the signed Washington Declaration, which stipulates that the lifting of the blockade will occur on the basis of the territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of the two countries, without hindrance and with mutual benefit," he said.
When asked why, unlike Azerbaijan, the document does not include the phrase "unimpeded access" in the section on Armenia, Mirzoyan replied: "What does "unimpeded access" mean? There are dozens of conventions and international documents in which Armenia has obligations regarding that very same unimpeded access. And not only in relation to Azerbaijan."
Touching upon criticism from the opposition, he advised not to listen to them: "We have agreed on what has been written and published; the rest of the verbal comments are unimportant.
Commenting on the Turkish Foreign Minister's expectations that a peace agreement would be signed early next year, the foreign minister noted: "We stated both when the agreement was initialed and before, when the text was being agreed upon in mid-March, that we would begin consultations on the place and time of signing as soon as possible. We remain ready."
As a reminder, on August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint "Declaration of Peace" in Washington. It provides for a joint appeal to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to terminate the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures, as well as the creation of a transport corridor through Armenian territory that will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave. The TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project, a 42-kilometer road in southern Armenia whose management will be entrusted to the United States for a period of 99 years, is, according to experts, capable of significantly changing the geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus.
