ArmInfo. "I am not a coward, let them do whatever they want, I am ready to do anything for the sake of my Motherland," Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan told journalists, in response to a question about whether he is afraid of pressure from the authorities, referring to the persecution of his son with the aim of forcing his resignation.
He noted that at his age he no longer wants to head a government structure, but prefers to live a measured life. However, what is happening in the country does not allow him to remain silent and stand aside. Ghukasyan emphasized that the state is in danger - the Armenian people are being Turkified, and the country is being turned into a "Turkish villa".
The official also expressed indignation that the authorities cannot decide who they are with - the Russians or the Turks. He mentioned the participation of Turkish generals and their open statements about "victory" in the 44-day Artsakh war. "And knowing all this, we still want to discuss this issue?" Ghukasyan asked.
Summing up, he noted that he believes in God's judgment, and ultimately, he believes that the truth will prevail. Regarding the situation with his son Spartak Ghukasyan, the mayor emphasized that this is already his fourth detention. "But then they release him because the facts presented do not correspond to reality," he added. Vardan Ghukasyan also noted that this is due to the fact that he does not make a deal with the authorities, does not become an informer, but defends the interests of the people and the Motherland.
