ArmInfo. Vigen Euljekchyan, currently illegally held in an Azerbaijani prison, went on a hunger strike 36 days ago. His family has no information about his health. Luciana Minasyan, his lawyer from Argentina, told FactInfo that she is unable to verify if Vigen has stopped his hunger strike.
"Calls are made monthly and we already received calls in September. So far, we have not been able to get information from Baku about Vigen. We believe that he will continue the hunger strike, despite the consequences. He is no longer able to bear the sentence," Minasyan said. She also reported that the Armenian National Committee of Lebanon had asked Lebanon's Permanent Representative to the UN to raise the issue of Vigen Euljekjian, who has been unjustly detained in Baku since 2020. Additionally, Argentina's Vice President Victoria Villarruel and Argentina's Human Rights Commissioner Claudia Rucci were asked to raise the issue of prisoners in Azerbaijan, including Vigen Euljekjian. "There was no response from either the Vice President or Rucci, but we may receive a response from Human Rights Watch within a week. However, we continue to work towards taking legal action, and there is still much to be done in this area," Minasyan said.
