The French parliament will host a conference on the topic "Artsakh /Nagorno-Karabakh/: two years after the ethnic cleansing", dedicated to the ethnic cleansing in Artsakh committed by Azerbaijan. The initiator of the conference was the deputy, vice- president of the France-Armenia friendship group Emmanuel Mandon. This was reported by the media with reference to the Artsakh representative office in France.
The conference will be attended by deputies of the French, Swiss and European parliaments, representatives of local governments, diplomats, journalists.
The purpose of the conference is to raise awareness of the situation around Artsakh, present arguments in favor of the ethnic cleansing that took place, and discuss the political and legal prospects for the future of the region
The Permanent Mission recalled that on September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale military offensive against the Republic of Artsakh, targeting civilians and infrastructure, which resulted in numerous casualties.
"Stepanakert, Askeran, Martakert and other settlements were bombed. After a ten-month blockade, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces captured Nagorno-Karabakh, which led to the forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of Artsakh Armenians. To commemorate the tragic events and discuss their political and legal consequences, a conference on "Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh/: two years after the ethnic cleansing" will be held in the National Assembly of France, the Permanent Mission said in a statement.
