ArmInfo. Levon Zurabyan, Chairman of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), believs that what Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is presenting as achieved peace is in fact blatant pre-election fraud that has nothing to do with establishing peace. According to him, this cannot even be considered a plan for achieving peace for three fundamental reasons.
Firstly, the peace treaty has not been signed, as Azerbaijan continues to refuse to sign it, despite the huge concessions already made by Armenia. Additionally, Zurabyan continued, Turkey has not open the border, Azerbaijan continues to torture leaders of Artsakh and Armenian prisoners of war in its prisons and fabricate criminal charges against Armenia.
"Secondly, the Washington agreements are one-sided and do not take into account the interests of the increasingly powerful BRICS geopolitical alliance, which includes our strategic allies Russia and India, as well as partners China and Iran. This unilateral settlement sets a geopolitical bomb under the peace process, significantly increasing the risks of Armenia becoming an arena for a proxy war," the politician emphasized.
Thirdly, Zurabyan continued, the concessions made by the Armenian leadership threaten the foundations of Armenian statehood. According to him, the rejection of the Declaration of Independence and the removal of elements related to historical identity from Armenian state symbols under pressure from Azerbaijan are tantamount to denying one's own history and national identity. This has far-reaching goals - weakening and sterilizing the Armenian state.
"Our peace plan envisages the establishment of the Zangezur transport hub, the conclusion of the "Deal of the Armenian Century" with key geopolitical players and the formation of an international consortium. This consortium, in addition to and in parallel with the railway envisaged by the TRIPP program (Trump route), will construct and manage the North-Eastern Railway, a highway and a broadband optical cable," Zurabyan wrote on his Facebook page.
He assures that the implementation of this plan has several advantages. Specifically, its implementation will improve the balance in the region and force Azerbaijan to abandon the policy of constant pressure and demands on Armenia, leading to signing a peace treaty. Armenia will transition from a zone of geopolitical confrontation into a zone of cooperation and development, creating prospects for a stable and lasting peace. Armenia will emerge from the de facto blockade and the status of an economic appendage, becoming one of the fast-growing pills of the world economy, as well as increasing its weight in international politics. Zurabyan is confident that the implementation of this plan will allow Armenia to avoid humiliating concessions that threaten the Armenian national identity and the existence of Armenian statehood. "Thus, we offer the only real and realistic plan for peace, unlike the great pre-election deception presented by Pashinyan under the name of "peace," the ANC deputy chairman concluded.
