Prime Minister: We are now talking about  a defensive army,  not  one  that is combat-ready 

ArmInfo.  The Armenian government is ready to engage all those people who share the Cabinet's strategy in the military, as it will otherwise be  impossible to implement it.  RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated  this on September 15 at the opening of the Comprehensive Security and  Confrontation - 2025 international conference, in response to a   question about whether there are mechanisms for involving "active,  relevant segments of society" in the reforms being implemented in the  country's security forces.

According to the Prime Minister, there is a shortage of professionals  in the RA in these areas. To record this, there is no need to survey  thousands of people, but rather recognize that our general education  system is, in fact,  in ruins, he added. "When we launched the 300  schools program, it seemed like we were implementing a large-scale,  grandiose program. Now, as we near the end of the 300 schools  program, we have come to the conclusion that after the completion of  the 300 schools program, it is necessary to launch the 1000 schools  program. The number of schools capable of providing quality education  in Armenia can be counted on the fingers," the head of the Cabinet of  Ministers said.

According to him, the task of the Armenian army is to protect the  internationally recognized territory of the Republic of Armenia. "We  are now talking about a defensive army, not a combat-ready one,  because the word "combat-ready" does not express the essence of the  issue," Pashinyan added.

Additionally, the Prime Minister pointed out that the army needs a  clear ideology and a clear strategy.  "Without ideology, without an  ideological axis, the army can turn the country into chaos, the army  can turn descend into chaos. Unfortunately, we are still witnessing a  situation where there is no political concept at all in the army, and  sometimes the vacuum is filled by a criminal concept," Nikol  Pashinyan emphasized.
