Gyumri mayor`s son detained - ministry

ArmInfo.  The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the fact of the detention of the son of the mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan - Spartak Ghukasyan.

Earlier, Armenian media reported the detention of Spartak Ghukasyan  on charges of extortion. It was noted that he was taken to the Shirak  regional police department.

"By the decision of the investigator, the son of the mayor of Gyumri  Vardan Ghukasyan - Spartak Ghukasyan has been detained," said the  press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) Narek  Sargsyan in an interview with ArmInfo. He did not provide any other  details regarding the detention, advising to contact the body  conducting the investigation.

At the same time, ArmInfo was unable to reach the Investigative  Committee to obtain details of the detention.
