MESCS head announces initiation of legal processes regarding  assessments surrounding reconstruction of Armenian Genocide Memorial  and Museum

ArmInfo. "During the reconstruction process of  the Armenian Genocide Memorial and Museum, many assessments were voiced. I  am not in the habit of doing so,  and I have never done so, but I must say that in connection with these assessments, we will initiate a legal process," Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan  stated during the government hour in Parliament on September 10.

She noted that people should be held responsible for what they say,  for making absurd and targeted statements that humiliate the honor  and dignity of a person. "In the near future, there will be  corresponding lawsuits. And in the end, we will see how appropriate  these assessments are," the head of the MESCS emphasized.

Referring to the repairs in the territory of the Memorial Complex,  she pointed out that no work had been carried out there for over 60  years, despite were serious problems with the drainage system. "And  if they had been addressed in a timely manner, we would not  be  facing them today," the Minister noted.

According to her, all work is being carried out in compliance with  the procedures established by law.  Specifically, discussions were  held by the scientific and methodological council, conclusions were  received from the expert group, and additional discussions were made  with trade union groups to approve the current work methods.

"Everything is happening under my personal control. I visit the  Memorial every week to see how the work is being carried out. And I  assure you that both the Memorial and the Museum remain open to  visitors.  They will never close," Andreasyan assured.

Touching upon the repairs of the Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum, she  stated that the museum is currently open to the public and those  interested can get acquainted with the permanent exhibition.  "Regarding the building project, initially the plan was to  reconstruct it. However, once the work began, it became clear that it  was not the front building that needed attention, but the adjacent  one. The realization led to the decision to construct a new building.  Now we are at the stage of additional examination, and these works  will start in the near future," the head of the Ministry of Education  and Science of the Russian Federation reported.
