Issues related to the current state of Armenian- Russian relations and the need to establish long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus region were discussed during the meeting between the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, and the Russian ambassador to the country, Sergey Kopyrkin.
Accordng to Ter-Petrosyan's press secretary Arman Musinyan, the conversation lasted more than an hour. He wrote on his Facebook page that the first president emphasized the following: Russia's presence in the Transcaucasus is an urgent need and a reality confirmed by history. "Russia, Iran, Georgia, France, Greece, and China and India in the near future, are honest and reliable friends of Armenia," Ter-Petrosyan concluded.
