The majority of respondents in Armenia are skeptical about the possibility of establishing long-term peace in the South Caucasus region after the signing of the declaration with Azerbaijan in Washington. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the consulting company MPG "TriPP vs TTras!".
So, when asked whether the Washington agreement would contribute to the establishment of long-term peace in the region, 41.6% of respondents said that it would definitely not, another 13.5% answered that it would rather not, 22.8% - rather yes, 6.3% found it difficult to answer, and only 15.8% of respondents believe that this document will bring peace.
When asked how they assess the signing of the declaration between Armenia and Azerbaijan mediated by Washington, 34% of respondents said they have an extremely negative attitude towards it, 13.6% - rather negative, 19.3% - rather positive, 22.8% - very positive, 7% found it difficult to say, and 3.3% said they had not heard about it.
When asked to express their attitude towards providing Azerbaijan with a road through the Syunik region of Armenia, 47.6% said they have an extremely negative attitude towards it, 11.3% - rather negative, 18.1% - rather positive, 17.4% - fully supported this step, and another 5.6% found it difficult to answer.
In addition, touching upon the demand of the Azerbaijani side to change the main law of the country in order to sign a peace treaty, 58% of respondents noted that amending the Constitution of Armenia is an internal matter for Armenia, and no country, including Azerbaijan, has the right to influence this process.
25.1% of respondents are sure that this is another political trap on the part of Azerbaijan, and regardless of the changes, Azerbaijan will not sign the agreement.
And 12.2% of respondents said that they would vote for amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia if this would bring real and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Another 4.7% of respondents found it difficult to answer.
The survey was conducted through telephone calls to residents of the Republic of Armenia from August 25 to 30 of this year, the sample size was 1,101 people, the sampling error is +/- 3%.
