ArmInfo. The Armenian people celebrate the Day of Independence of the Republic of Artsakh in the conditions of total indifference of the current administration of Armenia to the problems of ethnically cleansed, depopulated, occupied Artsakh and the residents of Artsakh forcibly displaced as a result of the genocidal policy of Azerbaijan. This is stated in the message of the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of the Day of Independence of the Republic of Artsakh.
"For several decades, until the seizure of power in 2018, we all together in Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora celebrated this day very solemnly, with joy and dignity. The day of the declaration of independence of the Republic of Artsakh was the day of liberation of a part of our homeland unjustly annexed by Armenophobic Azerbaijan, for which our heroic brothers and sisters gave their lives, to which thousands of Armenian sons dedicated the best years of their lives.
Today, however, we celebrate this once festive day in the context of the total indifference of the current administration of Armenia to the problems of the ethnically cleansed, depopulated, occupied Artsakh and the residents of Artsakh forcibly displaced as a result of the genocidal policy of Azerbaijan. The military-political leadership of Artsakh, other captured Armenians in Baku prisons suffer inhumane hardships within the framework of a trial based on illegal, fabricated charges," the third President of Armenia noted.
"I believe that, just as my generation managed, decades after the annexation, to liberate our native land, restore justice, national dignity and force Armenophobic Azerbaijan to peace, rather than beg for peace on unworthy terms, so we will emerge from this tragedy as victors.
And so, let our pain become determination, let our losses become an impetus for struggle, and let September 2 remain not a memory of the past, but an unshakable faith in a victorious future," the politician continued.
Sargsyan admitted that the Republic of Artsakh was not internationally recognized, adding that, however, the Artsakh issue was recognized at the international level as a problem, with international mechanisms created in the past for its fair and sustainable settlement.
In his opinion, there are opportunities and grounds for international pressure on the Azerbaijani authorities today, but the current Armenian administration deliberately does not use this toolkit.
"We cannot silently agree with the defeatist, destructive and loss-filled policy of the capitulating authorities, which is deceitfully presented as peace. Meanwhile, it is not supported by any guarantees, and the enemy puts forward its demands to the capitulating authorities every day.
For the usurper of power, gripped by the fear of losing his own seat, Artsakh is not a homeland, but a heavy burden; Artsakh residents are not compatriots, but temporary asylum seekers; the restoration of historical justice is not a goal, but an interfering circumstance.
It is indisputable that no occupier or dictator, no temporary defeat can shake our will to live on the land given to us by God freely, independently, peacefully and happily, like other nations. Artsakh is a sacred part of the Armenian homeland, and the return of Artsakh Armenians is their inalienable and fundamental right.
Glory! Eternal glory to those who died for the freedom of the Motherland! Strength and power to the worthy Armenian sons of our time!", Sargsyan concluded.
