ArmInfo. It is obvious that the statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the Armenian Genocide has nothing to do with the interests of either the Republic of Armenia or the Armenian people, as stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a briefing in Yerevan on August 28.
"In general, we need to understand do we want the recognition or non-recognition of the Armenian Genocide to be a geopolitical coin in the hands of others, which has nothing to do with the interests of our state and the interests of the people. Do we want the issue of the Armenian Genocide to be used in an interview in a random context? I do not want our martyrs to in such a status. We must focus on our interests," Pashinyan said, pointing out that many states and structures have recognized the fact of the Armenian Genocide, and now there is a need to understand and take stock of what the Armenian people and the Armenian state have gained from this. "This must be done so that our martyrs do not turn into a geopolitical bargaining chip," the head of government noted. He added that during conversations with the leaders of several states that have recognized the Armenian Genocide, he tried to understand the motivation of these states. According to Pashinyan, the main motivation for this step was to get more votes in political elections, which has nothing to do with the interests of Armenia.
