


ArmInfo. A criminal case has been initiated regarding an attempt to import drugs into Armenia.
As reported by the press service of the RA State Revenue Committee, police officers received information about an Armenian citizen planning to illegally bring drugs into the country. This information was passed on to the operational-search department of the SRC Anti-Smuggling Department. Following operational- search activities, it was established that the citizen may be attempting to import drugs into Armenia via the "Agarak" checkpoint. The citizen was placed under surveillance, and SRC employees inspected G.T.'s luggage. Inside, two pillows, transparent plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance resembling "methamphetamine" were found, weighing a total of 510 grams.
On the basis of a well-founded reasonable suspicion of drug trafficking, the citizen was detained and brought to the Syunik Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee, where a criminal case was initiated.
