ArmInfo. The third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Samvel Karapetyan saved Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) at one point in time, as stated by David Ghazinyan, former deputy executive director of ENA, during a press conference on August 27.
Earlier, in a conversation with journalists, the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said that he had asked Samvel Karapetyan to buy ENA from another Russian company, as the organization was in a very poor condition. "They needed a person who would be willing to invest and take care of ENA, without expecting immediate benefits. Samvel Karapetyan did this at least until 2018. I don't know if this continued after 2018. I think so," Sargsyan said.
"I said earlier that the authorities saved ENA, it had 2-3 months to live, it was on the verge of bankruptcy. Samvel Karapetyan, realizing what a burden he was taking on, agreed to save ENA, also taking into account his personal connections with the authorities. The potential bankruptcy of ENA would have been a very serious shock to the economy of our country.
In fact, Samvel Karapetyan, together with the third president, saved ENA. The situation was very challenging. I worked at the company at that time and have firsthand knowledge of the situation," Ghazinyan said.
