ArmInfo. The ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party is calling on the citizens of Armenia to rally on September 2, as noted in a statement issued by Ishkhan Saghatelyan, representative of the Supreme Body of ARF and member of the National Assembly from the opposition faction "Armenia".
According to his statement, September 2 is not just any day, it is a day that symbolizes the struggle and victory of the Armenian people, as well as the birthday of the second Armenian republic - Artsakh.
"Today, the governments of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey are jointly forcing us to close the page of Artsakh, to silently accept the genocide committed against us and to renounce our dignity and all our rights. However, the truth is one. The page of Artsakh is not closed, our people have rights, and this struggle does not threaten the Republic of Armenia, but protects it. As a result of the ethnic cleansing in Artsakh as a result of the genocidal actions of Azerbaijan, hundreds of thousands of Artsakh Armenians have been left homeless today. Yet, the same dream lives in their hearts: to return home, to live on their land and to preserve their national heritage. And this struggle is not only the struggle of the Armenians of Artsakh. This is the struggle of our people, it is also the struggle for the protection of Armenia, this is the struggle of every Armenian. And, regardless of our differences on various issues, we must be united on this issue and defend our rights. Therefore, on September 2 at 18:30, a large rally of unity will be held in Freedom Square. We will declare that the Artsakh conflict has not been resolved, that we do not accept agreements signed in our name through force and threats, which violate our rights, and that we demand the return of the Armenian prisoners held in Baku. The world must see that we do not deny, do not forget and continue our struggle. On September 2 at 18:30, let's come together on Freedom Square for our rights, for the return of Artsakh, for our national dignity, and for the Republic of Armenia," the statement reads.
Recall that September 2 was celebrated in Artsakh as the Day of the Republic of Artsakh. On this day in 1991, the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh was proclaimed.
