Representatives from the Office of the Human Rights Defender visited various military units in the Syunik region of Armenia, including the N-th military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense, the military hospital, the military commissariat, and military police units to assess the state servicemen's rights and discuss appeals received by the Defender.
As reported by the Ombudsman's office, several human rights issues within the Armed Forces were considered during the visits, including social security, women's rights, the certification processes, living conditions in military units, drug provisions, medical care, health related restrictions, discipline maintenance, specifics of sending military personnel from educational institutions to military commissariats and then to military units, rights of citizens in training camps, military personnel housing, service apartment repair, construction projects, hygienic conditions for military personnel, dismissals, vacations, staffing, hospital equipment, etc.
The Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights has recorded several concerns raised by officers and military personnel. These issues will be summarized and promptly forwarded to the relevant state bodies, along with proposals for resolution. As an independent constitutional body exercising external control over the armed forces, the Human Rights Ombudsman will continue to pay special attention to the rights of military personnel and their families. Regular visits to different military institutions and units will be conducted for this purpose.
