ArmInfo. Residents of the capital's Nor Nork district are holding a protest action against what they describe as " lawlessness".
The protesters have blocked Gai Street with garbage bins. The reason for the action was the alleged unauthorized alienation of a plot of land by the Yerevan City Hall, which houses a water pipeline. The protesters consider this step by the capital's municipality illegal.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan's decision to allow development of the specified territory, led to the start of tree felling, resulting in one tree falling onto the road. According to the participants of the action, the owner of this land plot is the "so-called opposition deputy" of the National Assembly Ishkhan Zakaryan, a figure well known to residents of nearby buildings. In 2020, the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia demanded an explanation from Ishkhan Zakaryan regarding this land plot, which, according to the current legislation, was not subject to privatization at all. By their action, the participants want to bring attention to this issue.
