ArmInfo. Today there are more than 30 political prisoners in Armenia, but the struggle for their release is not over. Armen Ashotyan, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, stated this in a conversation with journalists on August 22.
"Perhaps the opposition is not fighting hard enough to secure their release or is not covering this fight well enough, but society also appears to be passive. If at least 5% of the people who have a photo of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan or have ever wanted to greet him had shown up at the courtroom, posted on Facebook, taken part in protests or pickets, I am confident that both His Holiness and all other unjustly imprisoned people would have been released very quickly. Under public pressure, Nikol Pashinyan would have been compelled to take this step, as the issues arising from this pressure are more important to him than the problem of having political prisoners," the politician said.
