


ArmInfo. On August 21, President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, visited the Turkmen mausoleum located in the village of Argavand in the Ararat region. He was accompanied by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia,Zhanna Andreasyan, and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Armenia, Muhammedgeldi Ayazov.
According to the press service of the President of the Republic of Armenia, the monument-mausoleum, erected by Armenian craftsmen, is a blend of elements of medieval Armenian and Islamic architecture. It is a tuff, tower-shaped domed building divided into three equal parts, with the dome made of baked brick. An Arabic inscription on the facade states that this sacred domed mausoleum was built in 1413.
The President got acquainted with the conditions for the preservation of the historical and cultural monument. Zhanna Andreasyan informed the President that, despite restoration and improvement works carried out in different years, a project is currently underway for the complete restoration of the monument and improvement of the surrounding areas.
During a conversation with the Ambassador, Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that the bilateral efforts invested in the preservation and restoration of the Turkmen cultural heritage in Armenia and the Armenian cultural heritage in Turkmenistan are aimed at strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.
