ArmInfo. In order to properly organize and hold the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) in Yerevan, in October 2026, a specialized service for organizing and holding the Conference will be purchased from one person. The corresponding resolution was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia on August 21.
As stated in the explanatory note to the document, the Government of the Republic of Armenia, by its Resolution No. 1039-A of July 31, 2025, approved the proposal to sign an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity on holding the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
In July 2025, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity addressed the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia with a request to ensure the availability of a professional conference organizer for the proper organization of the Conference. The organizer should be a local organization with proven experience in organizing large conferences and events. In addition, the letter states that the organization must be selected and fully involved in the process by 1 September 2025, which makes it relevant to purchase a specialized service for organizing and holding the Conference.
It is noted that in connection with the need to apply international best practices in organizing such conferences, within the framework of this decision, the selection of the organization providing specialized services for organizing and holding the Conference will be carried out by the Convention Secretariat, which will ensure responsible and collective decision-making regarding the service being purchased.
The cost of the services purchased is not advertised.

The UN Convention on Biological Diversity is one of three key international environmental conventions aimed at regulating the efforts of the international community to ensure environmental sustainability, protect biological diversity, restore ecosystems and sustainably use natural resources. The Conferences of the Parties to the Convention are among the largest global environmental events that take place every two years and during which participating countries develop mechanisms for implementing the provisions of the Convention and adopt new commitments to strengthen the protection of natural resources. Representatives of civil society, including representatives of non-governmental organizations, indigenous peoples, the scientific community, women's and youth organizations, as well as the private sector, actively participate in the work of the Conferences.
