ArmInfo. Artur Sargsyan, a member of the opposition parliamentary faction Hayastan, who was arrested in the case of 'terrorist act and seizure of power', is convinced that the fabricated case will be torn to shreds in court.
Recall that on July 9, the court arrested Artur Sargsyan for 2 months. He is accused of attempting to commit terrorist acts and seize power by force as part of a group of people led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan. The first court hearing on this case is scheduled for 16:00 on August 19.
'About 40 days or more have passed since I and more than a dozen other participants in our Holy Struggle have been under illegal arrest.
I think some of my compatriots were worried, somewhere not excluding that perhaps this is a real criminal case, and not just a set of words. Somewhere they thought that if such serious thoughts are expressed from the rostrum of the National Assembly, perhaps this is a real criminal case, and not just water,' Sargsyan wrote.
Meanwhile, the arrested MP notes that despite the fact that large-scale actions were expected from the parliamentary rostrum, after 30 days and the announcement of the end of the preliminary investigation, only what the detainees were talking about was confirmed.
'They did not take any large-scale actions because they have nothing to do here, they did not find any stars, because they fabricated this conversation too. This is not a criminal case, this is not criminal prosecution, this is just revenge. Revenge of those who do not want a humiliated and false peace, revenge of those who demand a dignified peace,' Sargsyan emphasizes.
According to him, imprisonment and persecution no longer frighten or oppress anyone, but, on the contrary, strengthen them even more.
'I am sure that in the near future this fabricated charge in court will simply disappear before your eyes, because if something is not there, then no matter how hard you try, it will not work,' wrote Artur Sargsyan.
As stated in the summary of the indictment, Vazgen Petrosovich Galstanyan (the secular name of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan - ed.) is charged with the fact that during several months of the implementation of the movement initiated and led by him, "Sacred Struggle", he was unable to achieve the goal he set for the movement - coming to power in the Republic of Armenia by means permitted by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia. Since November 2024, he has begun to achieve it in a manner not permitted by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, and in order to achieve this goal, a number of participants in the movement, including Movses Sharbatyan, Hayk Shahnazaryan, Tigran Topalyan, Lidiya Mantashyan, Hrayr Hakobyan, Karo Okumushyan, Artur Sargsyan, Igor Sargsyan, Ara Rostomyan, Arsen Ghazaryan, Arman Israelyan, Aghvan Arshakyan, Armen Aleksanyan, Migran Makhsudyan, David Galstyan and others, as part of a group, by prior conspiracy, acquired the necessary means and tools to commit a terrorist act and seize power, and also deliberately created other conditions, thereby preparing for the usurpation of power.
