ArmInfoOn August 14, during its regular meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia approved a procedure to provide additional funding to encourage educational institutions with high performance, as well as support educational institutions with low performance. The decision comes into force on September 1, 2026, and the funding allocated by the decision will be provided from January 1, 2027.
As stated by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia (MOESCS) Zhanna Andreasyan, a procedure for providing additional funding to incentivize highly effective educational institutions and support ineffective ones is being introduced, which consists of two components: the first component focuses on highly effective schools, which are planned to be provided with additional funding on a competitive basis up to 10 million drams per year. This funding can be directed towards current expenses, that is, these works should be directed mainly towards additional programs for professional development, the introduction of new teaching methods, innovative technologies, etc.
As for ineffective schools, Zhanna Andreasyan pointed out that the entire system will be assessed in order to understand the rationale behind the support provided to them. Institutions with less than 50 students, as well as those with low indicators will not be included in the list. The minister stated that a maximum of 50 schools will be included in the list of schools receiving yearly financial incentives and support.
