ArmInfo. 28-year-old Artsakh war veteran Tigran Ulubabyan has declared a hunger strike starting today. Lawyer Erik Beglaryan has shared this information on his Facebook page, bringing it to the attention of the Prosecutor General of Armenia, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee and the Ombudsman of the Republic.
As the lawyer noted, one of the reasons for Ulubabyan's hunger strike is the unjustified use of arrest and the lack of solid evidence. He also mentioned that the investigators seem determined to keep Ulubabyan in custody citing that the police officers who beat his client have personal connections to these investigators.
Another reason for the hunger strike, according to him, was that the investigators in the case do not demonstrate due integrity, which slows down the investigation and raises doubts about its impartiality. "Considering the abovementioned information, I call for a review of the criminal prosecution against Tigran Ulubabyan and, if possible, transfer the criminal case to another investigator to ensure the objectivity and impartiality of the investigation. Tigran Ulubabyan has lost both parents, and his elder brother died on the battlefield. I hope that at least this reality will be taken into account when considering Tigran's request," the lawyer concluded.
