ArmInfo.Since the Washington meeting, the realities that have unfolded make it impossible to characterize the ruling regime's propaganda campaign as anything other than a display of blatant cynicism and deception. Deputy Chairman of the Armenian National Congress Levon Zurabyan wrote this on his Facebook page.
"As the authorities attempt to present the Washington agreements to our society as a triumphant victory, let us state the following sobering realities: what the Armenian authorities are enthusiastically trying to present as an established peace is in fact only Armenia's acceptance of all the humiliating conditions imposed by Azerbaijan. However, this falls short of true peace, since Azerbaijan still refuses to sign the peace treaty, continues to occupy internationally recognized territories of Armenia, holds Armenian hostages in prisons, destroys the cultural heritage of Artsakh and all opportunities for the return of Artsakh Armenians, conducts expansionist Armenophobic propaganda at the state level, and makes further demands on Armenia. At the same time, Azerbaijan has not undertake any obligations to renounce these encroachments on Armenia in this process," the politician noted.
He added that in fact, Armenia is not even dealing with an act of capitulation, which, albeit on bad and humiliating terms, would establish a final peace. Instead, they are dealing with an ongoing process of capitulation, the end of which, despite all the concessions made by the Armenian side, is still not visible. "For some unknown reason, 5 days after the signing, the three memorandums signed between the Republic of Armenia and the United States, which were supposed to present to our society the terms and regulations for the creation of the "Trump route" (this is the term Trump uses), have not been publicized. At the same time, according to the authoritative Reuters news agency, the agreement provides for a 99-year lease of the territory of Armenia by the United States, which, in turn, must transfer it to a private company with the right to sublease, which cannot be perceived otherwise than as a limitation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia.
The situation forcing Armenia to accept all these humiliating and, more importantly, harmful demands dictated by Azerbaijan has arisen as a result of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan's destructive policies during his seven years in power. Since 2018, the Pashinyan regime has been the culprit of these endless disasters, trying to present the illusion of a final end to the process of disasters as an achievement that relieves him of the blame for the disasters brought to our country and losses. Given these realities, it is impossible to characterize this propaganda campaign of the ruling regime as anything other than a display of blatant cynicism and deception," Levon Zurabyan noted.
