ArmInfo. Moscow has carefully studied Iran's statements regarding the outcomes of the talks in Washington D.C. between the leaders of the United States, Armenia and Azerbaijan, as stated by Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian MFA Alexey Fadeyev, during a briefing on August 13.
According to him, Russia sees various nuances and emphases in these statements. During contacts with Iranian colleagues, the representative of the Russian MFA continued, great importance is consistently placed on issues of stability and security in the South Caucasus. "They are aware of this as well, and coordination between our departments continues," Fadeyev noted.
He added that the optimal solution to the problems of the South Caucasus is to find and implement solutions developed by the countries of the region themselves with the support of their immediate neighbors. "The engagement of other players shall only contribute to the strengthening of the peace agenda, and not create additional difficulties and dividing lines," the Russian diplomat said.
