ArmInfo. The Country for Life party considers the declaration signed in Washington, presented by the Armenian authorities as a "success" of the Armenian people, a dangerous pre-election manipulation full of risks.
As noted in the statement of the political force, distributed on the Facebook page, thus, the Armenian authorities are once again trying to present the challenges facing the country as an "unprecedented success", bypassing the fact that the price for it was the rejection of Artsakh and the failure of negotiations with Azerbaijan.
In this vein, the party emphasized that the main demand of Armenia to Azerbaijan and the international community, as a precondition for a possible real peace, should be the return of Armenian prisoners of war. "In addition, the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of the Republic and the process of demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be clear and urgent obligations of the parties," the party added.
In this regard, the political force drew attention to the fact that the signed document does not include Azerbaijan's commitment to unblock the roads, but only a clause on the "importance of opening communications between the two countries." "It is obvious that the current Armenian authorities are not able to protect the interests of the country, including within the framework of multilateral documents signed with Azerbaijan. Therefore, in order to develop Armenia and confront challenges, it is necessary to form a new government whose main principles of governance will be prudence, professionalism and dedication," the party summarized.
On August 9, a trilateral meeting of the leaders of the United States, Armenia and Azerbaijan was held at the White House. Within the framework of this meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration aimed at resolving the conflict between Yerevan and Baku.
