ArmInfo. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev considers the peace agreement signed in Washington between Azerbaijan and Armenia to be a historically significant achievement. Ruslan Zheldybay, President's press secretary, made this statement on his Telegram channel.
The document had put an end to the long-standing military conflict between the two states and opened the way to establishing diplomatic relations and developing cooperation between them on the basis of lasting peace.
According to the President of Kazakhstan, the signing of a unique agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia became possible thanks to the energetic and effective mediation mission of US President Donald Trump, who managed to convince the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders to fully demonstrate political will and strategic foresight. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev notes that Kazakhstan also made its contribution to achieving such important agreements between Azerbaijan and Armenia by proposing Almaty as a venue for negotiations at the ministerial level on key parameters of the peace treaty. The ministerial negotiations took place there.
