ArmInfo. The current government of Armenia, in this case, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Gevork Papoyan, is trying to distract public attention from the real problems for which it is responsible. Archpriest Father Sahak Sahakyan wrote about this on his Facebook page, commenting on the minister's statement that the so-called "church issue" continues to remain on the government's agenda.
According to the clergyman, following the news and turning to a topic that is not so popular these days, one can conclude that the Armenian state is facing serious economic challenges. In particular, we are talking about the problems of export and import, food security, inflation.
"Professional circles can present this list in much more detail. In such circumstances, the concern and involvement of the Minister of Economy in issues of celibacy or church discipline is not only inappropriate for a government official, but can also be perceived as a way to evade responsibility. The solution of internal disciplinary issues of the church requires the work of the church and its highest authority. The Minister of Economy should deal with the area entrusted to him. Mr. Minister, citizens did not call you to be a bishop, but granted you the powers of the Minister of Economy," the archpriest said.
Earlier, the Armenian Prime Minister, as part of his anti-church campaign launched at the end of May this year, declared his readiness to lead the process of removing all Armenians from the throne of the Catholicos. On July 7, information began to circulate in the Armenian media that in the near future, security forces would launch another attack on the Armenian Apostolic Church.
