ArmInfo. No matter how the Azerbaijani authorities try to minimize the Turkish factor, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan himself has spoken on various occasions about his key role in the aggression against Artsakh in 2023.
This opinion was expressed on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly from the opposition faction "I have the honor", in connection with the assignment of the next rank to the general of the Turkish army. As the deputy explained, this news would not have aroused interest if he had not been officially introduced as an adviser to the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan.
In this vein, the oppositionist also recalled that Azerbaijan and Turkey have a 5-year program for the integration of the two armies and the creation of a NATO army according to the Turkish model (2020- 2025), which should be completed this year.
"In addition, the Turkish military took part in the 44-day war against Artsakh, were stationed in the occupied Shusha and Kashatagh directions in 2020-2023, participated in the operation to occupy Artsakh in September 2023, and had a great influence on the decision-making of the General Staff of Azerbaijan," Abrahamyan added.
On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan, under the pretext of an "anti-terrorist operation," committed another act of aggression against Artsakh. This was preceded by a nearly 10-month blockade of the unrecognized republic. Since the enemy aggression that began in the fall of 2020, which in September 2023 ended in the complete ethnic cleansing of Artsakh, over 150 thousand Artsakh residents have lost their homeland and become refugees."
