According to the information, on December 24, 2024, the State Revenue Committee (SRC) submitted a report that the authorized persons of the fish farming LLC in the Ararat region, owned by the brother of the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan - G.A., evaded taxes on an especially large scale. On December 25, 2024, a criminal case was not initiated on this report.
The supervising prosecutor did not confirm the legality of the refusal to initiate a criminal case and instructed to initiate a criminal case under Article 290 of the Criminal Code (non-payment of taxes, duties and other payments) and begin a preliminary investigation.
During the preliminary investigation, the body conducting the proceedings filed petitions to the court to conduct searches in a number of places, which were rejected by court decisions. The prosecutor filed appeals against the above-mentioned judicial acts, which were satisfied.
As a result of the procedural actions carried out, factual data was obtained that the actual head of the company engaged in fish farming in the Ararat region, G.A., in collusion with the director of the same company G.M. and chief accountant M.G., in order to evade paying 143,827,827 drams of tax payable to the state budget, concealed the company's taxable object and included distorted data in tax calculations. On July 29, 2025, based on the investigator's petitions, the prosecutor initiated criminal cases against G.A., G.M. and M.G. under paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code. After the above decisions were made, G.A., G.M. and M.G. were charged. As a result, they recovered the damage caused to the state in the amount of 75,000,000 drams. The investigation is ongoing.
