Ambassadors appointed and recalled by presidential decrees - MFA

ArmInfo.  The process of appointing and recalling ambassadors is carried out by decree of the President of Armenia. Press Secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Ani Badalyan told ArmInfo in response to a request to  comment on the information about the recall of Ambassador Lilit  Makunts from the United States and the appointment of Narek Mkrtchyan  to this post.

Badalyan also drew attention to the fact that the presidential  decrees are posted on the website of the head of state and are  available to the public.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministry did not touch on the issue  related to the removal of the Honorary Consul of Armenia in  Yekaterinburg Narek Spartakyan.

Earlier, the Armenian publication "Aravot", citing its own sources,  reported on the imminent replacement of the Armenian Ambassador to  the United States Lilit Makunts. "The head of the ruling Civil  Contract party faction in the Gyumri Council of Elders, Sarik  Minasyan, will soon be appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs  of Armenia. And the current minister, Narek Mkrtchyan, will be  appointed Ambassador of Armenia to the United States, replacing Lilit  Makunts in this post. According to available information, the  agrement on his appointment has already been issued. By the way,  Mkrtchyan's brother lives in the United States," the publication  said.
