ArmInfo. Honorary Consul of Armenia Narek Spartakyan is being recalled from Yekaterinburg, URA.RU reports.
According to the website, the reason was his disagreement with the position of the country's leadership regarding the Armenian Apostolic Church and the arrest of the philanthropist from Russia Samvel Karapetyan, who supported the AAC.
Spartakyan himself only noted that he lived and continues to live in Yekaterinburg. And he promised to do everything necessary for the residents of Sverdlovsk and the Armenian community even without the status of honorary consul. "I consider any actions against the Armenian Apostolic Church, as an important foundation for the spiritual unity of all Armenians, unacceptable," Spartakyan added.
In response to his position regarding the arrest of Karapetyan, he said that, like all Armenians, he respects him very much, because for many he is an example of how to build and create.
At the same time, the Armenian publication "Aravot", citing its own sources, reports on the imminent replacement of the Armenian Ambassador to the United States, Lilit Makunts. "The head of the faction of the ruling Civil Contract party in the Council of Elders of Gyumri, Sarik Minasyan, will soon be appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia.
And the current minister, Narek Mkrtchyan, will be appointed Ambassador of Armenia to the United States, replacing Lilit Makunts in this post. According to available information, the agrement on his appointment has already been issued. By the way, Mkrtchyan's brother lives in the United States," the publication notes.
At the time of publication of the information, it was not possible to obtain a comment from the Armenian Foreign Ministry on the veracity of these two reports.
