ArmInfo. A supporter of the "Sacred Struggle" protest movement Aghvan Arshakyan, who was detained for 2 months, has serious health problems that are incompatible with prison conditions. This was reported on his Facebook page by opposition MP from the "Armenia" bloc Garnik Danielyan.
In this regard, he drew attention to the fact that two years ago the young man was diagnosed with a serious illness.
"After a complex operation and chemotherapy courses, Aghvan must undergo examinations every three months and be under the supervision of doctors. According to the schedule, the next examination should take place in September," the MP noted.
In addition, the opposition MP emphasized that in order to improve Arshakyan's health, walks in the fresh air and a special diet are necessary. Danielyan drew attention to the fact that Aghvan's situation requires special attention, since every day of his imprisonment negatively affects his health.
"Under the current government, arrest as a preventive measure has turned into a punitive measure. We live in an era when our most patriotic citizens find themselves behind bars without any reason. And a person's health is not a deterrent for a dictatorial regime," Danielyan complained.
In connection with this situation, the deputy announced his intention to appeal to the Ombudsman of Armenia Anahit Manasyan. "Considering Aghvan Arshakyan's health, he should be released and be with his mother. I am sure that such honest and courageous young people will create our future," the oppositionist summed up.
On June 25, law enforcement officers began searching the homes of supporters of the "Sacred Struggle" movement and people with opposition views. The Investigative Committee stated that the participants and leaders of the movement were allegedly planning terrorist attacks and the seizure of power in Armenia. Sixteen people, including the movement's leader, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, were jailed for two months on charges of attempting to "seize power."
