ArmInfo. Armenian Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan has come forward with an initiative to file a class action lawsuit against the leader of the Sacred Struggle movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who was previously arrested for "terrorism and preparations to seize power."
As Avanesyan reported on her Facebook page, she intends to file a lawsuit in accordance with Article 224 of the Civil Procedure Code (the right to file a class action lawsuit - ed.). The minister noted that many citizens and public figures, against whom the archbishop himself had previously filed lawsuits, have already joined her initiative. In addition, Avanesyan emphasized that the leader of the Heritage faction, Styopa Safaryan, offered her his assistance in organizational matters.
"It is true that we are lenient and generous people, but responsibility is a good thing. I propose to direct the amount demanded for moral damages to good and public causes. We will inform you more about the process and the possibility of joining the lawsuit," Avanesyan noted.
She made this statement after Bagrat Galstanyan's lawyers filed a lawsuit against Avanesyan for "insult and slander." As the minister reported, she learned about this through the media and immediately announced her intention to initiate a joint lawsuit against the archbishop.
"I propose filing a class action lawsuit against the person who called the people "dark cattle". I wonder if his insatiable desire to "shoot" has transformed into a form of expressing discontent in court. Or, after filing the lawsuit, he still plays out the "shooting" and other terrorist scenarios in his head, feeling the need for finances? Do not stop, also contact international terrorist organizations with complaints that the Armenian authorities prevented attempts at a coup d'etat," Avanesyan wrote earlier.
It is noteworthy that Avanesyan, a lawyer by education, obviously trampling on the presumption of innocence of a person, has already issued a guilty verdict against Archbishop Bagrat and makes value judgments in conditions when the competent authorities are still only conducting the preliminary investigation.
Recall that on July 22, according to the Datalex website of judicial acts, the leader of the Sacred Struggle movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who had previously been arrested for 2 months on charges of "terrorism and preparation for the seizure of power," filed lawsuits against political figures, demanding compensation for moral damage caused by insult and slander. Galstanyan demanded through the court to collect 6 million drams in compensation from a member of the Civil Contract party, National Assembly deputy Vahagn Aleksanyan, 3 million drams each from Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan, leader of the Republic party Aram Sargsyan, former NA deputy Styopa Safaryan, political scientist Harutyun Mkrtchyan, and Republic party members Ani Khachatryan and Hayk Sahakyan.
